Once the calculator shows an answer, the table follows the CTC you typed above. Per month is the new CTC ÷ 12, a share of CTC, not in-hand pay. ≈ marks a figure rounded to the rupee or the paisa.
How to calculate your new CTC after a hike
In India, pay is quoted as CTC (cost to company) in LPA: lakh per annum, where one lakh is 1,00,000 rupees. A hike is a percentage of your old CTC, so the new CTC is the old one multiplied by 1 plus the hike as a decimal.
New CTC = CTC × (1 + hike ÷ 100)
A 10% hike on 12 LPA.
- 1 + 10 ÷ 100 = 1.1
- ₹12,00,000 × 1.1 = ₹13,20,000 (13.2 LPA)
- Increment: 13,20,000 − 12,00,000 = ₹1,20,000 a year
- Check: 13,20,000 ÷ 1.1 = ₹12,00,000 ✓
Type the CTC the way your letter states it — 12, 12 LPA, 12L or ₹12,00,000 all read as twelve lakh — and the hike as a plain percentage. A figure under 1,000 is read as LPA, and the answer always shows the rupee figure with its LPA, so you can see how it was read.
Salary hike table: 10% to 50% on common CTCs (in LPA)
Each cell is the new CTC in LPA. To work one out yourself, multiply your CTC by the figure under the hike: × 1.1 for 10%, × 1.2 for 20%, and so on.
| CTC | 10%× 1.1 | 15%× 1.15 | 20%× 1.2 | 25%× 1.25 | 30%× 1.3 | 40%× 1.4 | 50%× 1.5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 LPA | 3.3 | 3.45 | 3.6 | 3.75 | 3.9 | 4.2 | 4.5 |
| 4 LPA | 4.4 | 4.6 | 4.8 | 5 | 5.2 | 5.6 | 6 |
| 5 LPA | 5.5 | 5.75 | 6 | 6.25 | 6.5 | 7 | 7.5 |
| 6 LPA | 6.6 | 6.9 | 7.2 | 7.5 | 7.8 | 8.4 | 9 |
| 8 LPA | 8.8 | 9.2 | 9.6 | 10 | 10.4 | 11.2 | 12 |
| 10 LPA | 11 | 11.5 | 12 | 12.5 | 13 | 14 | 15 |
| 12 LPA | 13.2 | 13.8 | 14.4 | 15 | 15.6 | 16.8 | 18 |
| 15 LPA | 16.5 | 17.25 | 18 | 18.75 | 19.5 | 21 | 22.5 |
| 20 LPA | 22 | 23 | 24 | 25 | 26 | 28 | 30 |
| 25 LPA | 27.5 | 28.75 | 30 | 31.25 | 32.5 | 35 | 37.5 |
How to calculate hike percentage from old and new CTC
Choose hike % in Find and enter both CTCs: (new − old) ÷ old × 100. From 8 LPA to 11 LPA is 3 ÷ 8 × 100 = 37.5%. Compare fixed pay with fixed pay, or a bigger variable or joining bonus flatters the offer. If the new figure is lower, the calculator says pay cut, not a negative hike. Negotiating? Type the CTC you want as the new CTC, and the answer is the hike you are asking for.
If the switch is also a change of domain — a developer moving into DevOps, say — OpsCanopy’s free 90-day DevOps program is a structured route, with a daily lesson and browser missions.
A hike on CTC is not a hike on in-hand pay
CTC includes employer PF, gratuity, insurance and any variable or bonus pay. In-hand pay is the fixed part minus your PF, professional tax (in the states that levy it) and income tax, which is charged in slabs, so a 10% CTC hike can move in-hand pay by more or less than 10%. This page does not estimate take-home, because salary structures differ: compare fixed with fixed.
Example: a 10 LPA CTC with 1.5 LPA variable. A 10% hike on the fixed 8.5 LPA adds 0.85 LPA, so CTC goes from 10 to 10.85 LPA: an 8.5% hike on CTC.
Did your hike beat inflation?
What your pay buys grows by the real hike: (1 + hike) ÷ (1 + inflation) − 1. A 15.5% hike in a year when prices rose 5% is 1.155 ÷ 1.05 = 1.1, a 10% real rise. Subtracting gives 10.5%, which is too high.
Use the official consumer-price inflation for the same twelve months as your hike (India’s CPI is published monthly by the Ministry of Statistics, MoSPI). A hike below it buys less than your old CTC did, even though the rupee figure went up.
For a reference point, Aon’s Annual Salary Increase and Turnover Survey 2025-26 India (more than 1,400 organisations, published 24 February 2026) recorded an average salary increase of 8.9% in 2025 and projects 9.1% for 2026. That is an average across companies and roles, not a target for yours.
Your CTC after several years of hikes
Each hike is a percentage of the CTC after the last one, so hikes compound. At 10% a year, a 12 LPA CTC grows like this:
- Year 1: ₹13,20,000
- Year 2: ₹14,52,000
- Year 3: ₹15,97,200
- Year 4: ₹17,56,920
- Year 5: ₹19,32,612
Five 10% hikes add 61.051%, not 50%. To check any year, type the previous year’s new CTC into the calculator.
Your CTC before the hike
Know the new CTC and the hike, and want the old one? Divide, do not subtract: old CTC = new ÷ (1 + hike ÷ 100). The value before a percentage increase calculator does exactly that, with the same working shown. For the rise between any two values in other currencies, the percentage increase calculator is the general tool.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my new CTC after a hike?
Multiply your current CTC by 1 plus the hike as a decimal. A 10% hike on ₹6,00,000 is 6,00,000 × 1.10 = ₹6,60,000, and a 30% hike on 5 LPA is 5 × 1.30 = 6.5 LPA. The increment is the difference: ₹60,000 a year in the first case. The calculator above does this for any CTC and rate, to the paisa.
How to calculate salary hike percentage?
Subtract your current CTC from the new one, divide by the current CTC and multiply by 100. For a job switch from 8 LPA to 11 LPA: 3 ÷ 8 × 100 = 37.5%. Choose hike % in Find above and enter both CTCs. If the offer carries more variable pay or a joining bonus than you have now, compare the fixed parts, or the percentage flatters the offer.
How do I calculate a 10%, 20% or 30% hike in salary?
Multiply your CTC by 1.10, 1.20 or 1.30. On 8 LPA that is 8.8 LPA, 9.6 LPA and 10.4 LPA. The table above lists 10% to 50% for common CTCs.
How much is a 10% hike on 6 LPA?
₹6,60,000 (6.6 LPA): an increment of ₹60,000 a year, or ₹5,000 a month. Each 1% on 6 LPA is ₹6,000 a year.
How much is a 30% hike on a ₹5,00,000 CTC?
₹6,50,000 (6.5 LPA), an increment of ₹1,50,000 a year.
How much hike should I ask for when switching jobs?
Start from the CTC the role pays, not from a percentage. Then choose hike % in Find and type that CTC as the new CTC: the answer is the hike you are asking for. Compare fixed pay with fixed pay, and leave a one-time joining bonus out of the new CTC, because it is not paid in the second year.
How do I calculate hike percentage in Excel?
With the old CTC in A2 and the new CTC in B2, type =(B2-A2)/A2 and format the cell as a percentage. For the new CTC from a hike typed as 10 in C2, type =A2*(1+C2/100).
Is a salary hike calculated on CTC or on in-hand salary?
Offer and appraisal letters in India often state it on CTC, which includes employer PF, gratuity and variable pay. In-hand pay moves by a different percentage, because deductions and income-tax slabs do not scale with CTC. To see what the hike does to your fixed pay, enter the old and new fixed pay a year instead. Some letters state the hike on basic or fixed pay instead; enter the figures your letter names.
How do I calculate a monthly salary hike?
Work it out on your annual CTC: this calculator reads every amount as a year's CTC, and a number under 1,000 as LPA. When every month rises by the same factor, the percentage is the same as for the year, so 6 LPA to 6.9 LPA is the same 15% hike that takes ₹50,000 a month to ₹57,500. The table below the calculator shows the new CTC per month (CTC ÷ 12) for each hike.
How much is 12 LPA per month?
₹12,00,000 ÷ 12 = ₹1,00,000 a month of CTC. In-hand pay is lower, because CTC includes employer PF and gratuity, and your PF and income tax come out of the rest.
Is a salary hike the same as an increment?
In Indian offer and appraisal letters the two words name the same thing: the rise in your CTC. The hike is usually quoted as a percentage of the old CTC and the increment as the rupee amount; the appraisal is the review that decides them. The calculator above prints both.
What is a good salary hike in India?
Compare it with inflation first: a hike below the year’s consumer-price inflation buys less than your old pay did, even though the rupee figure went up.
Can I find my old CTC from the new CTC and the hike %?
Yes — divide, do not subtract. If ₹13,20,000 is the result of a 10% hike, the old CTC was 13,20,000 ÷ 1.10 = ₹12,00,000. Subtracting 10% of 13,20,000 gives ₹11,88,000, which is wrong: the 10% was taken of the smaller old CTC. The value before a percentage increase calculator does the division for you.
